I hope John Wick starts a new trend in the way action is shot, just like the Bourne films did.
Just got back from seeing John Wick 2, and just like the first one, the action was masterfully shot. The camera stayed still so we could observe all the action, and was shot extremely fluidly. A lot of the takes were long and didn’t cut away too quickly so you could really appreciate the choreography.
Compare this with the Bourne films that brought on the trend of shaky cam, frantic pace and quick cuts for action. Soon, many films started to adopt this and I absolutely hated this trend as you could not tell what was the hell was going on screen.
Hopefully more action films now start taking cues from John Wick.
